A Winter Escape to Cuba:
Sun, Sand, and Adventure
As the chill of winter gripped Canada, we set off on a much-needed tropical getaway to Cayo Coco, Cuba, from December 25 to January 1. It was the perfect escape from the cold, with temperatures ranging from a breezy -28°C in Toronto to a warm 28°C in paradise.
Our early morning flight at 6:00 a.m. from Toronto had us arriving at Vila Galé Cayo Paredón by noon, where we were greeted with the serene sight of turquoise waters, soft white sands, and a beautifully designed resort. From the moment we arrived, we knew we were in for a special experience.

The Resort Experience
Vila Galé Cayo Paredón exceeded our expectations in every way. The resort boasted multiple pools, perfect for both relaxation and playful splashes with the kids. There were no issues with cleanliness or power, and the friendly staff made every interaction delightful. We were particularly impressed with the wide variety of delicious food options available—something for every palate.
Entertainment was another highlight. Each night, lively shows kept the energy high, while kids' programs ensured our little ones had plenty of fun and were ready for bed after a day full of activities.
Adventures and Tropical Treats
Our days were filled with simple joys and exciting moments. Poolside fun, fresh coconuts, and quick snacks became a delightful routine. We took catamaran rides right from the resort, explored the area on a short walk to a nearby lighthouse, and even visited a charming local mall.
The Safari Adventure: A Memorable Excursion
One of the most unforgettable experiences was the safari excursion on the mainland. Driving a manual car through Cuba’s countryside gave us a unique glimpse into local life. We interacted with friendly Cubans, rode horseback through scenic landscapes, and took an exhilarating speedboat ride. The adventure was topped off with an abundance of refreshing piña coladas that perfectly captured the tropical spirit of the trip.
A New Year’s Eve to Remember
December 31st was the crown jewel of our holiday. The resort’s crew pulled out all the stops with a night filled with special shows, lively music, and plenty of food, including a barbecue feast. The dance floor buzzed with energy, and the countdown to midnight was electric. It was a night of pure celebration, adventure, and unforgettable memories.
